Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about OpenTibia servers and our platform.
1 What is an Open Tibia Server (OTS)?
An Open Tibia Server (OTS) is a private server based on the open-source OpenTibia engine, which replicates the Tibia MMORPG experience. Players can join these servers to play a version of Tibia with custom rates, maps, and features, maintained by independent communities.
2 How do I play on an Open Tibia server?
To play on an OTS, you need the correct Tibia client version for the server (e.g., 8.60, 12.64). Find a server on our list, copy its IP address and port, then connect using the client. Some servers require account registration on their website first. You can download clients from our downloads section.
3 How do I add my server to the list?
Create a free account, then go to "Add Server" in your dashboard. Enter your server IP, port, and details. Our system will automatically verify your server is online and collect real-time player data.
5 What does server uptime mean?
Uptime is the percentage of time a server has been online and accessible. A 99.8% uptime means the server was down only 0.2% of the time. We calculate uptime from our continuous verification system, so it reflects real availability, not self-reported data. Check the statistics page for platform-wide averages.
6 How does the bidding/promotion system work?
Server owners can bid on promoted spots at the top of the list. The top 3-5 bidders get premium placement with a golden border. Bids are managed through the wallet system in the dashboard. Higher bids get better visibility and more clicks.
7 Is OpenTibiaServer.com free to use?
Yes, browsing the server list, searching, and filtering are completely free. Creating an account is also free. Only optional promotional features (bidding for top spots) require payment. Server owners can list their servers for free.
8 How do I claim my server?
If you are the owner of a server already listed, go to the server page and click "Claim Server". You will need to add a verification code to your server MOTD (Message of the Day). Our system will verify the code automatically and grant you ownership. Go to the claim panel to get started.
9 What is the difference between official Tibia and Open Tibia?
Official Tibia is run by CipSoft on their servers with fixed rates and rules. Open Tibia servers are community-run, offering custom experiences: different experience rates, custom maps, unique PvP systems, and modified gameplay. OTS servers are free to play.
